Canadian developers can now snag themselves a Project Tango tablet development kit

Project Tango

Starting today, software developers in Canada (and South Korea) can take to the Google Store to order a Project Tango tablet development kit.

Previously only available in the United States, Project Tango is Google’s attempt to create a platform that allows mobile computers to navigate the physical world in much the same way that a human being does.

Originally created by the company’s ATAP lab, Tango uses a combination of advanced camera optics and sensors to translate a physical space in to a virtual one. For now, a lot of the applications being developed for the platform are augmented reality video games, but the future use cases are nearly endless. For instance, one day the Tango platform may allow someone to tour a home that’s on the real estate without actually being there.

The specific tablet Google is selling is available in black or white. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It also includes NVIDA’s Tegra K1 processor, and both WiFi and LTE modules

On August 26th, Google will start selling the development kit in 10 additional countries, including Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
