Apple reportedly phasing out $99 “One to One” mentoring in favour of more free workshops

Apple plans to end its “One to One” mentoring program for iOS and OS X users, according to MacRumours.

Citing an unnamed source, which MacRumours claims has been reliable in the past, the publication says that Apple plans to end the program so that its retail store employees can focus on providing a greater number of free workshops.

The long-running program is currently offered to consumers who buy a Mac or iOS device. The $99 membership grants a person one year of one-on-one mentoring from an Apple Store employee. Each session is about 30 to 60 minutes, and can cover a variety of topics, including how to use apps like iTunes and Photos, as well as how to take advantage of services like iCloud.

Moving forward, Apple will continue to honour existing One to One memberships while phasing out the $99 memberships that grant consumers access to the program.

Apple did not respond to comment in time for publication.
