Marshmallow set to drop on the BlackBerry Priv ‘late April, early May’

During BlackBerry’s earnings call today, the struggling Waterloo-based company revealed Android 6.0 Marshmallow is set to roll out in either late April or early May.

Back at CES, BlackBerry executive Ron Louks revealed plans to bring the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system to the Priv.

Marshmallow will bring Android 6.0 features like battery saving Doze, revamped icons and Google’s contextual search, Now on Tap.

Update: According to the official transcript of the conference call, CEO John Chen stated the update to Marshmallow will happen over the next few weeks. “A word on our overall device roadmap. We are planning our Android Marshmallow release, known as the M release for late April, early May.”
