Netflix reveals 13 Reasons Why Season 2 premiere date, trailer

13 Reasons Why Hannah and Clay

Netflix has announced that the second season of its controversial hit teen drama series 13 Reasons Why will begin streaming on May 18th.

Coinciding with the premiere date announcement was a minute-and-a-half teaser trailer posted to the official 13 Reasons Why Twitter account.

The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal any plot details, instead merely suggesting how each of the series’ characters has been affected by the fallout of the events of the first season.

However, Netflix has confirmed that the season will once again focus on Clay Jensen (Dylan Minette) and his fellow students at Liberty High School. Students and staff continue to cope with the aftermath of Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) suicide, with the school itself now facing a lawsuit from Hannah’s grieving parents.

According to Netflix, Clay and the others will also have to “uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up” through Polaroid pictures, which appear to be the new version of the cassette tape narrative device used prominently in the first season.

13 Reasons Why originally premiered in March 2017 and was a massive hit for Netflix, although the series faced significant controversy over how it depicted Hannah’s depression and subsequent suicide.

As a result, Netflix has confirmed that the first episode of the series’ second season will feature a video that warns viewers of the sensitive subject matter, as well as some suggestions on where to go for those who may be in distress.
