Netflix Games offers access to many titles you can play on your smartphone, like Twelve Minutes, Death’s Door, Monument Valley 2 and more. The streaming giant has more than 100 games to choose from, but it turns out that the company is already planning on removing two of the hit titles in its library: GTA III and GTA: Vice City. Both of these titles have only been part of the Netflix Games library for under a year.
However, for those who still want some mobile Grand Theft Auto action, San Andreas is staying on Netflix for at least some time longer, as that game doesn’t have the ‘Leaving Soon’ card. It’s surprising that Netflix would get rid of these titles as, according to What’s On Netflix, the GTA games are some of the most downloaded games in Netflix’s library — although San Andreas was the most downloaded of the three.
If you want to play the mobile versions of GTA III and Vice City after December 13th, you’ll need to purchase them from the Play Store or iOS App Store.
Netflix cycles through series on its platform quite often. Both Gossip Girl and Avatar: The Last Airbender have been on and off of the streaming service, and even Netflix Original series Voltron is leaving Netflix on December 6th; however, it now seems like Netflix will be doing the same with its games as well. In a statement to What’s on Netflix, a rep told them, “Just like with series and film, games will be removed from Netflix as licenses expire.”
