Netflix 2025 lineup: Squid Game, Stranger Things finales, new titles from Ben Affleck, Tina Fey

Here's a full breakdown of the confirmed movies, shows and games coming to Netflix this year

Netflix 2025 slate preview

Netflix held a big presentation on January 29th to offer an extensive preview of what’s coming to the platform in 2025.

Hosted by chief content officer Bela Bajaria in Los Angeles and streamed live to Toronto, the ‘Next on Netflix’ showcase offered new looks at previously announced and never-before-seen movies, TV shows and games. (A separate presentation focused on three of Netflix’s upcoming Canadian titles was also held — a separate breakdown of those can be found here.) A few special guests also appeared to discuss their new projects.

Read on for our full breakdown of what was featured during the event.

Movies

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein — November

Before we got to our first big movie (and after a brief intro with wrestlers Rhea Ripley and CM Punk to promote Netflix’s WWE partnership), Bajaria naturally took some time to celebrate the streamer’s leading 13 Oscar nominations for its controversial crime drama musical, Emilia Pérez. She then used that as a segue into introducing Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water), who spoke about his upcoming sci-fi horror film, Frankenstein. In a pre-recorded message, del Toro mentioned how he’s been trying to make the film for nearly 25 years, making it perhaps his most “personal” work to date. Frankenstein stars Oscar Isaac (Star Wars) as the titular scientist, Euphoria‘s Jacob Elordi as his monster, Mia Goth (X), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) and more.

RIP — TBA

Our next special guest was Ben Affleck, who took the stage to present a new film called RIP. The film is a crime thriller co-written and directed by Joe Carnahan (The Grey) and, per Affleck, draws from the likes of Heat and Training Day. The film sees Affleck and recurring collaborator Matt Damon star as cops who raid a stash house, only to discover that it’s housing $20 million that multiple parties are targeting. Steven Yeun (Beef), Sasha Calle (The Flash) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) co-star.

TV

Zero Day — February 20th

Robert de Niro (Taxi Driver) stars as the former president in this political thriller about the ramifications of a devastating global cyberattack. Netflix is touting this as one of its “prestige” shows, in no small part due to this being de Niro’s starring TV role. Zero Day co-stars Lizzy Kaplan (Masters of Sex), Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) and Angela Bassett (Black Panther), among others.

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney — March 12th

John Mulaney Netflix

After numerous collaborations with Netflix, including last year’s multi-night Everybody’s in L.A., comedian John Mulaney returns to the streamer with a live talk show. The funnyman came out on stage to confirm the series’ name, premiere date and 12-week run.

Squid Game (Season 3) — June 27th

Squid Game Season 3

Anyone upset with Squid Game‘s second season not feeling entirely satisfactory can rest easy knowing we now have an official date for the third and final season: June 27th.

Black Rabbit — TBA

Netflix showed off some footage from another “prestige” series, a drama starring Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) and Jason Bateman (Ozark). In the series, Jake (Law) runs a popular New York establishment until his brother Vince (Bateman) re-enters his life with criminal danger on his tail.

Forever — TBA

This series is a reimagining of Judy Blume’s iconic 1975 novel of the same name that hails from Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends). As we saw in a trailer, Netflix’s Forever follows two Black teens navigating their burgeoning love in 2018 L.A. The two leads are played by Lovie Simone (Manhunt) and Michael Cooper Jr. (On the Come Up).

The Four Seasons — TBA

The Four Seasons Netflix

30 Rock star Tina Fey came out to discuss a new comedy series based on The Four Seasons, the popular 1981 romantic comedy film from Alan Alda. Fey notes that she adored the movie upon first watching it and has gotten Alda’s blessing to turn it into a series. The Four Seasons follows four couples whose seasonal vacations are upended when one of them gets a divorce. Fey stars in the series alongside the likes of Steve Carrell (The Office), Will Forte (Saturday Night Live) and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing).

Stranger Things (Season 5) — TBA

Of course, any talk of Netflix’s 2025 slate wouldn’t be complete without Stranger Things, as the streamer’s first global hit series comes to an end this year. We still didn’t get a premiere date (or even window) at the Next on Netflix event, but creators Matt and Ross Duffer debuted a behind-the-scenes look showing off some of the filming of the upcoming final season.

The Duffers also teased that they’re “deeply involved” in multiple other Stranger Things projects at Netflix, as well as unrelated shows for the streamer. While they said it’s too early to talk about the former, the Duffers did briefly discuss two non-Stranger Things shows they’re executive producing. The first, 2026’s The Boroughs, stars Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) and follows people at a retirement home dealing with the supernatural. Second, the currently undated Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, is a mysterious horror story set at a wedding and the debut series from creator Haley Z. Boston.

In other words, there’s a lot to look forward to on Netflix from the Duffers after Stranger Things ends.

Untitled Victoria Beckham documentary series — TBA

Following the 2023 premiere of the meme-worthy Beckham documentary, Victoria Beckham will be the focus of her own documentary series. The series will follow the former Spice Girl in her personal life and throughout her fashion endeavours.

Netflix talked briefly about some of its plans for games this year.
