Wondering what to watch on streaming?
Every week, MobileSyrup outlines some of the most notable new movies and TV shows. We typically focus on new content from Amazon’s Prime Video, Crave and Netflix, but other services like Apple TV+ and Disney+ will be mentioned when relevant. Premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms are also fair game as movies continue to come to digital early.
Finally, we’ll highlight shows or movies that are made by Canadian companies, involve notable Canadian cast or crew and/or are filmed in Canada.
CTV
The 2025 Oscars
The 97th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, hosted for the first time by Conan O’Brien.
Bell has the exclusive Canadian rights once again, so you can tune in via CTV and CTV2 channels on TV, CTV.ca and the CTV app on Android, iOS and connected TV devices. On CTV’s digital platforms, you’ll need to sign in with your TV provider.
Here are the movies up for the coveted Best Picture:

- I’m Still Here (Maria Carlota Bruno and Rodrigo Teixeira)
- Nickel Boys (Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Joslyn Barnes)
- The Substance (Coralie Fargeat and Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner)
- Wicked (Marc Platt)
It’s worth noting that it’s not exactly simple to stream most of these movies. Only Dune: Part Two (Crave), The Substance (Mubi) and Emilia Pérez (Netflix) are included with streaming services, with a handful only available through PVOD (like The Brutalist and Anora) and others not on digital/only in select theatres (like I’m Still Here and Nickely Boys).

Crave
Suits LA
Crave release date: February 24th, 2025 (new episodes stream one day after they air on CTV)
Genre: Legal drama
Runtime: 10 episodes (around 44 minutes each)
A former New York prosecutor runs an LA law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.
Suits LA was created by Aaron Korsh (Suits) and stars Toronto’s Stephen Amell (Arrow), Lex Scott Davis (The L Word: Generation Q), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead) and Bryan Greenberg (One Tree Hill). It’s also worth noting that Gabriel Macht will reprise his original Suits role of Harvey Spector in multiple episodes.

An ad-free Crave Premium membership costs $22/month. Alternatively, there are two other subscription options: Crave Basic with Ads ($9.99/month) and Crave Standard with Ads ($14.99/month). The next big WWE event streams live on Netflix from Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Saturday, March 1st at 4pm PT/7pm ET.
The likes of The Rock, John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Travis Scott and Toronto’s own Trish Stratus will be making appearances.

A reformed party girl must take on the responsibility of running her family’s pro basketball team.
Running Point was created by Elaine Ko (Modern Family), Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project) and David Stassen (Central Intelligence) and stars Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Drew Tarver (The Other Two), Scott MacArthur (The Mick) and Brenda Song (Dollface).

1923 was created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and stars Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Harrison Ford (Blade Runner).

In this acclaimed 2024 film that’s finally releasing in Canada, an admired painter and family man finds his life upended when his estranged father shows up to reconcile.
Exhibiting Forgiveness is the debut feature film from writer-director painter Titus Kaphar and stars André Holland (Moonlight), Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard) and John Earl Jelks (On Becoming a God in Central Florida).
