Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge might be more expensive than we expected. South Korea’s Financial News released a report about the upcoming device, revealing its price.
The report indicates the device will cost KRW1.5 million (CAD$1,493) for the 25GB model and KRW1.63 million (CAD$1,622) for the 512GB model. A 1TB model is unlikely to be available in South Korea. For comparison’s sake, the S25+ costs $1,438.99, and the S25 Ultra costs $1,918.99, so the S25 Edge will fit between those devices.
It’s also worth noting that the S25 Edge will probably be even more expensive if it launches in Canada. Samsung devices are more costly in Canada, and you can’t do a direct price comparison. For instance, the S25+ costs KRW1,353,000, which is CAD$1,346; however, the actual price of the device is CAD$1,438. So, it’s quite possible that we’ll see an S25 Edge that costs more than $1,500 or even more than $1,550.
And while the device will have a hefty price tag, it also has an assortment of weird specs that might not warrant the pricing. Leaks point to the device weighing 162g, sporting a 6.6-inch display and 6.4mm thick. However, it’ll only have a full HD+ display and a 3,900mAh battery and is ditching the telephoto shooter for a 200-megapixel primary shooter and 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
I really like the idea of a thinner, lighter device, but the more than $1,500 price tag might be too much for the upcoming device. However, this is only a leak, and you can take it with a grain of salt. The device could be more affordable or even more expensive, and it’s not even 100 percent clear if it will launch in Canada. Only time will tell.
