The Search giant has announced Google Beam, using its Project Starline technology and bringing it to consumers.
Google Beam uses Project Starline technology to change Google Meets conversations from 2D to 3D. The hardware itself sports six cameras, allowing it to do this. The combination of the company’s AI video model and light field display creates a sense of depth. This technology allows users to make eye contact, read subtle cues, and more as if it were a real face-to-face conversation.
Software-wise Google’s AI volumetric video model is added to the hardware, which allows it to stream these calls and transforms it to 3D experiences.
Google is collaborating with HP to bring Google Beam devices to select customers later this year. In a few weeks, HP will show off the first Google Beam products at InfoComm.
Google’s real-time translated conversations feature is also coming to Google Beam The Mountain View, California-based company is also working with Zoom and other partners as well.
