At Google I/O 2025, the company revealed more about the Android XR experience.
Your Android XR device will be equipped with a camera, microphones, and a speaker and will work in tandem with your phone, giving you access to your apps without having to reach for your phone.
An optional in-lens display provides information when needed, and pairing it with Gemini means the AI can see and hear what you do. Gemini can understand your context, remember what’s important to you and provide information when needed.
Android XR glasses work in various ways, like messaging friends, making appointments, providing turn-by-turn directions, taking photos and more. It also offers live language translation and can give subtitles for the real world.
Google works with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create stylish glasses with Android XR. Additionally, the company is furthering its partnership with Samsung to develop software and a reference hardware platform. Developers will be able to start building for this platform later this year.
