Amazon is testing new AI-generated audio summaries that will let you listen to two virtual hosts chat about the various features of a product. Alongside the details of the product, the summaries also draw from reviews and information online.
Currently, it is only available for select products on Amazon’s mobile app in the U.S., which include the Ninja BL770, OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil (only available on Amazon.com), SHOKZ Open Run Pro, and the SafeRest Waterproof Mattress Protector.
Amazon’s new AI-generated hosts are similar to the recent addition to Gemini, which can turn documents, slides, and research reports into podcast-style conversations.
The audio clip opens with the main host introducing themself as an AI-generated host and introducing their co-host. For the Ninja BL770, the co-host was named Sofia. The podcast-like format does work, although the only problem I have with the new voiceovers is that there tends to be some run-on sentences and other little issues that are a common fault with anything AI-generated.
One highlight of the AI-generated voices is that they did talk about any faults with the product. For the Ninja BL770, they mentioned the complaints surrounding noise levels and the reliability problems that reportedly can plague the blender. However, I wish they had talked about the price compared to other blenders in the category, compared to how much time the two hosts spent talking about the different blades of the machine.
Amazon plans on bringing the summaries to more products and customers in the coming months. For now, if anyone wants to try it out, changing your location within the app gives you access to the AI-generated summaries.
