WhatsApp finally has a proper iPad app

Featuring many of the same features as the iPhone version

WhatsApp has finally gotten a dedicated iPad app after 15 years. It’s now available to download on the App Store.

Until now, iPad owners have had to use the web version of the popular messaging and video calling platform. With this new app, you’ll be able to message others, make video and audio calls with up 32 people, share your screen with others, and more. You’ll also be able to sync everything across iPhone, iPad and Mac.

On top of that, Apple says iPadOS multitasking features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over will be supported. You can also use a Magic Keyboard and/or Apple Pencil if you have them.

Interestingly, the official X (Twitter) WhatsApp account teased the iPad app earlier this week, but its launch right now is certainly surprising.
