Recent Instagram bug causing Android battery drain

The update that fixes it is out now

A community manager in the offical Android help fourms has shared a post encouraging users to update their Instagram apps to help fix a battery drain issue.

It’s unclear how much extra power Instagram was taking, but if you noticed your battery life getting worse over the past two weeks or so, this could be the problem.

The new version of Instagram is build 382.0.0.49.84, according to the forum post and on my OnePlus Open it automatically downloaded this monring at 6am.

I’m not sure how often Google posts about third-party apps with battery drain issues on its help pages, but I suspect its pretty few and far between. Suggesting that this issue was more widespread than I knew.
