Crave quietly increased the price of its Basic tier back in May, according to the Wayback Machine. The plan now costs $11.99 monthly and $119.99 yearly. Before the price increase, Crave Basic cost $9.99 monthly and $99.99 yearly.
With new pricing, Crave Basic includes two streams simultaneously, up to 1080p video quality and has ads. Before the increase, you could only stream in one place and up to 720p video quality. Offline downloads and live channels are still not available with this plan.
Crave announced in a blog post today that it will offer an ad-supported free plan for users to watch certain content. Here’s a quote from the blog post:
At launch, a subscription to the enhanced Crave service gives Canadian viewers wide-ranging choice and convenience, providing direct-to-consumer access to HBO and Max Originals, Crave Originals, CTV, Noovo, news, select sporting events, a deeper collection of programming for kids, and content from Bell Media’s suite of entertainment specialty channels including USA Network, and Canal D. The expanded platform will also offer the option to register through a free account, providing ad-supported access to content from CTV, CTV 2, and Noovo including CTV Movies and CTV Throwback.
Crave also offers Crave Premium for $22 per month and Crave Standard for $14.99; the prices of these plans haven’t increased in the new shift.
