Get a look at upcoming battery health assistance for Google Pixels

Update June 12, 2025, at 12:52p.m. ET: It looks like the battery health assistance features described below are starting to roll out. MobileSyrup editor-in-chief Jonathan Lamont installed the Android 16 update on his Pixel 9 Pro earlier this week, and the battery health assistance feature appeared on June 12.

Google is planning on introducing a new battery health assistance feature for newer Pixel devices to help manage and support the battery’s long-term health and performance.

We’ve known that Google was working on the feature for a while now, but a recent update to the Settings Services app spotted by Assemble Debug included all the elements to enable the feature.

Although battery health assistance isn’t available to users yet, Assemble Debug was able to manually add it to a Pixel 9, which shows the new feature within the battery settings menu.

Assemble Debug also notes that the battery health assistance setting will likely be optional on most Pixel devices and standard on 9a devices. However, it is easy to turn on and off, so there is no need to fret. The setting will be added to the battery health settings page as expected.

There is some small text that notes,”You may notice slight changes in charging performance and battery capacity.” There is also a discretion in the text, “Batteries are consumable components that age over time and last fewer hours between charges.” Google also recommends replacing any batteries that are considered “aged.”

Google just released Android 16 and the June Feature Drop, bringing a ton of new features to Pixel phones. However, battery health assistance doesn’t appear to be one of them. The new update is supposed to include the new Material Expressive feature, advanced security, and a small fix to the ‘always on’ display.
