Freedom Mobile sending out 30 million gigabytes of free data

I’ve been a Freedom Mobile subscriber ever since I reviewed the service last years ago, and since then, I’ve gotten two data upgrades, the most recent being a free 40GB that was gifted to my account today. I’m not the only one getting free data, as the telecom says it’s sending out 30 million gigabytes of free data to users.

In the email I got, it says that I’ve been given 40GB of Canada/U.S. data at no extra charge, and it will stick to my account every month. This brings my previous 50GB (40GB + a 10GB bonus) to a total of 90GB, which, to be honest, is wayyyyy more than I’ll ever need, but it’s better than a price increase email.

I didn’t need to accept the offer or anything. It was already added to my account before the email arrived.

It’s unclear if there is any rhyme or reason to the giveaways, but I hope someone is playing for a cheap $29 plan with 5GB and they’re gifted 40GB as well to give them a ton of data for a really low price.

I was only notified of this bonus via email today, and when I checked my online account, there was no promotion for the bonus or announcements, but my total data bucket has gone up to 90GB.
