Google‘s new ‘preferred sources’ feature gives users more control over their Search experience, but it’s not coming to Canada yet.
This new feature allows users to control which news outlets they want to see more of in search results.
After searching for a news topic, users can interact with the icon next to the “top stories” section to select preferred sources. Once sources have been selected, users will be prompted to refresh their search results. Once the results have been refreshed, a new section dedicated to stories from your chosen sources will be visible under the “top stories” section. This allows users to see stories from their preferred sources alongside those in the “top stories” section.

This new feature is already available with Google Labs, but starting on August 12, Google will slowly roll it out for users in the U.S. and India.
Google has not made any announcements regarding a potential release in Canada, but a successful launch in the U.S. and India could lead to the feature’s expansion to Canadian users.
