It’s pretty common for gaming companies to debut new console bundles ahead of the holiday season, but Nintendo might just have one of the most random examples of such an offering to date.
Out of nowhere, the Japanese gaming giant has revealed a Canadian-exclusive Nintendo Switch Sports bundle for the original Switch. Yes, you read that right. For $419.99, you can get a Switch console, a download code for Nintendo Switch Sports and a Leg Strap. The game and accessory have a $70 value and the bundle is set to launch in Canada sometime in early October.
All in all, it’s an odd choice for a bundle. While Switch Sports is actually one of the top-selling Switch games, it’s not exactly one that anyone seems to ever really talk about. There’s also a little console called the Nintendo Switch 2 that’s been out since June and continues to sell well.
It remains to be seen whether Nintendo will also debut any new console bundles for the Switch 2 this holiday season beyond the previously announced Pokémon Legends Z-A bundle. The highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still set to come out by the end of the year and would be a good candidate for some sort of special themed package.
