On July 16, OpenTable launched its new generative AI assistant, “Concierge.”
This new assistant aims to integrate research and discovery into the booking process for any of the 60,000 restaurants on its global network.
Concierge is designed to help answer the typical questions that diners may have while booking a restaurant, such as dietary restrictions or whether a particular dish is on the menu. These questions can add 15 or more minutes to the booking process.
Concierge is built to speed up this booking and research process by offering all the information a diner may need while booking without the need to call the restaurant or open another tab to look it up. This leads to faster and more confident booking decisions for diners and fewer people skipping bookings because they couldn’t find reliable info online for restaurants.
OpenTable has also expressed a desire to update “Concierge” so that it can handle bookings from direct conversational prompts in the future.
