Google is looking to add more AI features to its software, and a new update might use AI to help with customization. According to code found in a pre-release Android build, Google is working on a way to create custom icon themes using AI.
Android Authority spotted the code from a recent Android Canary build, which suggests that you can choose four distinct styles for your app icons. One of these new choices is AI Icons, which may let users use AI to generate a custom icon style automatically. Another new option may allow people to build their own custom icon style.
However, the new icon options didn’t work for AA, the publication could only guess how the features could be used. These features may be available only for internal builds or part of another app.
AA also reports that Google is working on letting you customize the icon shapes, but it’s unclear when Google will launch this feature or let you customize your themes. The Mountain View tech giant is also developing new themes for Pixel phones, which may launch alongside the Pixel 10 series.
Google will launch the Pixel 10 series on August 20.
